Originally from Spruce Grove, AB, Cam Houston played collegiately at Garden City CC (NJCAA DI) and Fort Hays State University (NCAA DII).  The highlight of his college career would have to be his junior year in 2003 for Fort Hays where he earned NCAA DII All-American Honours by hitting .412 with 11 homeruns and led the nation with 79 RBI. That season he was also named to the Second-Team All-Canada.

He started his coaching career as the hitting coach for Malaspina College on Vancouver Island before heading home and guiding the Spruce Grove White Sox and St. Albert Cardinals to multiple National and Western Championship appearances between 2006 and 2008.  He was the head coach for the inaugural Prospects Academy team in2009-2010.  He is currently in his fifth year with the Prospects Academy.  Two of his former players are playing professionally, and five have appeared on Baseball Canada's Junior National Team, with countless others moving on to play at the collegiate level.  Cam also returned to coach the St. Albert Cardinals in 2013 and guided them to a Western Canadian Championship, and in 2014 a Provincial Championship and a second place finish at the National Championships in 2014.
