Prospects Win Opener At Best of the West

The Prospects won their opening game of the Best of the West Tournament in Kamloops, BC, beating the Okanagan Athletics 9-1 in just 6 innings.  The Prospects bats came out swinging right out of the gate plating four runs in the bottom of the first and they never looked back.  The bats were red hot in the opener, collecting 13 hits in the game.  Luke Muise, who finished 1-3 on the day, blasted a 3-run home run in the first.  Mitchell Hazlett had a home run in the game as well, going 1-2 with 2 HBP.  Four Prospects had multi-hit games: Josh Williams (3-4, RBI), Evan Loranger (2-4, RBI, SB), Connor Burns (2-4, 2B, RBI), Darcy Affleck (2-4).

Tanner Karpinski picked up the win with a dominant complete-game performance.  In his 6 innings of work he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits and just 1 walk, while collecting 5 strikeouts.

The Prospects continue their round robin play tomorrow taking on the Parksville Royals at 9 a.m. followed by the five-time defending champs Langley Blaze at 11:30.
