Prospects Split Weekend Series With PBA

The Prospects split their weekend series with Praire Baseball Academy, a college program out of Lethbridge.

Game 1

In the opener The Prospects came out on top 4-2 in extras.  Dylan Gates got the start on the mound and went 4 solid innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4.  Connor Burns got the win out of the pen throwing 4 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk while collecting 4 strikeouts.  Logan Harvey had the clutch go ahead RBI single in extras.  The offense was led by Kobe Hyland who was 1-3 with an RBI.  Erik Sabrowski was 2-3 with an RBI.  Jake Fischer was 1-3 with a triple.  Jacob Melville was 1-2 with a walk.  Aidan Huggins also collected an RBI.

Game 2

In game 2 The Academy couln't muster much offensively and lost 3-1.  Jackson Wark was dominant in his start, tossing 4 innings giving up just a lone unearned run on 3 hits while striking out 7 and walking just 1.  Luke Roberts threw 1 inning giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 1.  Darcy Affleck threw the final inning and put up a zero.  On offense Erik Sabrowski was 1-2 and had the lone Prospect RBI in the game.  Connor Burns, Jake Fischer, and Jackson Campbell all collected hits.

Game 3

In the first game on Sunday the Prospects won a pitcher's duel 2-1.  Taran Oulton was dominant, carrying a perfect game into the 4th and a no-hitter into the fifth.  He pitched 5 innings and gave up just 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 6.  Kurt Meeberg closed things out with 2 scoreless innings, giving up just one baserunner on a single and punched out 3.  Offensively, Erik Sabrowski was clutch again hitting a clutch 2-out RBI single to put the Academy ahead in the 6th.  Dylan Gates was 1-2 with an RBI.  Connor Burns and Jake Fischer had the only other hits for the 'Spects.

Game 4

In game 4 The Prospects would be hurt by 11 walks and multiple errors and dropped the contest 17-7.  Jacob Melville got the start on the mound and gave up 8 runs (4 earned) in his inning of work.  Aidan Huggins followed things up going 3 innings and gave up 4 runs on 3 hits while walking 5 and striking out 4.  Ross Supruniuk pitched the final 2 innings and gave up 5 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks.  On offense Jaret Semeniuk had a strong day going 1-3 with 2 RBI.  Kobe Hyland was 1-3 with an RBI.  Darcy Affleck, Jackson Campbell, Jake Fischer, Erik Sabrowski all had hits. Jeremie Arsenau had 3 walks.

 

The Academy's next action is Tuesday at home vs. St. FX.
