The Prospects went 2-2 over the weekend down in Okotoks.

Game 1 saw the Academy fall to the Okanagan Athletics by a score of 11-3.  The Prospects defense was sloppy making 4 errors, ultimately costing them the game.  Christian Smith started on the mound going 4 innings giving up 10 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits.  He walked 2 and struck out 4.  Zach Thibault threw a solid final 2 innings out of the pen giving up 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 2.  Offensively the Prospects couldn't get much going as they only had 3 hits on the day.  Evan Loranger and Gray Symington both had doubles, while Mat Brisson had a single and a run scored.

Game 2 saw the Prospects fare much better.  They beat the Calgary Cannons by a score of 6-1.  Jake Keating was outstanding on the mound, getting the win while going the distance.  He gave up 1 run on just 4 hits, walking 0 and striking out 4.  The offense was spread out fairly evenly up and down the lineup with several Prospects having solid games.  Mitchell Hazlett was 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI.  Cody Dickson was 1-2 with 2 stolen bases.  Darcy Affleck was 1-3.  Triffon Tatarin was 1-3 with a double.  Connor Burns was 1-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.  Mat Brisson went 1-4 with a stolen base.

In game 3 the Prospects offense was anemic and a solid start on the mound was wasted.  The Academy lost to PBF 4-1.  Owen Renwick got the start on the hill and went 5.2 IP giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits, walking 3 and striking out 5.  Nick Barrett threw the final 1.1 IP giving up a run and striking out 1.  Offensively, Triffon Tatarin had the lone hit.  Derek Millar also had 3 walks and scored the lone run.

Game 4 saw another excellent pitching performance by the Prospects.  Three pitchers combined to shutout FX Black 5-0.  Mat Brisson got the win going 4, giving up 1 hit, walking 2 and striking out 1.  Luke Muise went 2 innings giving up 1 hit and striking out 3.  Connor Burns threw a clean final inning.  Derek Millar had a solid day at the plate going 2-3 with a double and an RBI.  Triffon Tatarin was 2-4.  Darcy Affleck, Connor Burns, and Gray Symington all also had base hits on the day.

The Prospects next action is this weekend here in Edmonton in the FX Showcase Tournament.  The Academy takes on FX Black Friday at 4:00 pm at Centennial Park in Sherwood Park.
