Prospects Go 3-0 in Round Robin Play at Best of the West
The Prospects finished up their round robin play at The Best of the West with a perfect 3-0 record.
In game 1 they beat the Okanagan A's 5-4, walking them off in the bottom of the 7th inning. Kobe Hyland had the walk-off RBI. Jacob Melville (3-4) and Aidan Huggins (2-2, 2 BB, 2 SB) each led the way offensively. Connor Burns was 2-4. Kobe Hyland, Jeremie Arseneau, and Jake Fischer all had hits as well. Owen Bessette threw 4.2 innings in his start giving up 4 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out 5. Luke Roberts got the win out of the pen throwing 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
In the second game of the tournament the Prospects beat Victoria 3-1. Taran Oulton was excellent on the mound, earning a complete game win. In his 7 innings he gave up 1 run on 4 walks and 3 hits while striking out 8. Kobe Hyland's go-ahead solo home run in the fifth inning would prove to be the difference. Jake Fischer was 2-3 with an RBI and Owen Bessette was 1-3 with an RBI.
In the final game of round robin play the Prospects beat the five-time tournament defending champs Langley Blaze 3-2 in extra innings. Connor Burns got the win on the mound with two scoreless relief and had the go-head RBI double. Jackson Wark had a very strong start, tossing 6 innings giving up 2 runs (0 earned) on 7 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 4. Aidan Huggins (2-2), Jake Fischer (2-4, 2 RBI), and Connor Burns (2-4, RBI) led the way offensively. Kobe Hyland, Jacob Melville, and Damian Obrigewitch all had hits as well.
The Prospects will be in the semi-finals tomorrow. Games and times to be determined.
