The Prospects Academy had a very successful College Showcase Trip in B.C. over Spring Break.

Game 1

In the season opener the Prospects had a thrilling come from behind victory over Okanagan College, winning 15-13.  Luke Muise earned the win on the mound (6 IP: 3 ER, 0 BB, 6 K).  Triffon Tatarin (3-4, BB, 3 SB, 4 RBI), Cody Dickson (2-4, BB, SB, 3 RBI), Mitchell Hazlett (2-5, 2B, 5 RBI), and Evan Loranger (2-4, BB, 2B, 2 RBI) led the way offensively.  Gray Symington and Connor Burns also collected hits.  The Prospects battled back all game, at times trailing 5-1, 10-5, and 13-9.  After adding a single run in the top of the 8th to make it 13-10 the Prospects put up 5 runs in the 9th to take the lead.  Evan Loranger hit a bases loaded double that drove in two runs, Triffon Tatarin grounded into a fielder's choice to tie the game, setting the table for Cody Dickson to drive in the two go-ahead runs with a clutch single.  Muise continued to roll on the mound and put up a zero in the 9th for the academy to capture its first victory in the first game of the young season.

Game 2

The Prospects had the tables turned on them by Okanagan College, blowing a 3 run lead in the bottom of the ninth to lose 5-4.  Christian Smith was stellar on the mound in his start (6 IP: 1 ER, 2 H, 4 BB, 2 K).  Connor Burns took the loss on the mound.  After 2 quick innings the OC Coyotes bats got a rally started and walked off in the bottom of the 9th.  Triffon Tatarin (2-3, BB, 2 RBI) and Cody Dickson (2-4, RBI) paced the offense.  Logan Harvey also had a clutch pinch-hit 2 RBI double.  Zach Thibault, and Evan Loranger also collected hits for the academy.

Game 3

The Prospects beat Victoria Academy 8-4 in game 3 of the trip.  Jackson Wark got the win on the mound (5 IP: 1 ER, 2 H, BB, 5 K).  Zach Thibault was solid out of the pen (4 IP: 3 R, 0 ER, BB, K, 2 H).  The offence was balanced up and down the lineup.  Derek Millar was 2-4 with a double, Mitchell Hazlett had a double, while Evan Loranger, Triffon Tatarin, Nick Barrett, and Darcy Affleck all collected hits.

Game 4

The Prospects fell in a low-scoring affair, 3-2 to the VIBI Mariners.  Nick Barrett was solid on the bump in his start (5 IP: 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K).  Darcy Affleck also put up a zero in a 1-2-3 inning of relief, striking out 1.  The offence couldn't manage much against some tough college arms, however, one bright spot was a solo home run by Connor Burns in the sixth inning, bringing the academy within 1.  Triffon Tatarin had another solid day at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI.

Game 5

In the final game of the trip the VIBI Mariners were again victorious over the academy, winning 5-1.  Mat Brisson got the start on the mound, going 3 innings giving up 4 runs (3 earned).  Luke Muise, Greg Dekinder, and Logan Harvey threw well in relief.  Offensively, the Prospects couldn't muster much.  Nick Barrett (2-3 2B), Derek Millar (2-4, 2B), and Mitchell Hazlett (1-3) had the only hits for the academy.

Overall, it was a great trip with the Prospects going 2-3 against some tough college competiton.  The Prospects play next, on April 10 down in Oyen against Badlands Academy.
