Prospects Academy Roll Out New Coaching Staff for 2016-2017

The Prospects Academy is excited to announce 3 new additions to the coaching staff for 2016-2017 season. 


Mike Johnson - Mike is currently the pitching coach for the Canadian Jr. National team. He was drafted by the Blue Jays in 1994, and went on to play in the MLB from 1997-2004 for the Baltimore Orioles, Montreal Expos, Texas Rangers, LA Dodgers and San Fransisco Giants. Mike was also a part of the Canadian National team in the 2004 Summer Olympics as well as th 2006 inaugural World Baseabll Classic. Coach Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him to the Prospects Academy. We are excited to have him on board. 



Matt Hammond - Matt is currently with the Sherwood Park A's. Matt played college baseball at University of Wake Forest at Winston Salem. Matt was formerly the Director of Baseball Operations at Playmaker U. We are looking forward to having Coach Hammonds leadership and knowledge for the upcoming season.



Jason Lee - Jason is currently with the Sherwood Park A's. Jason played professional baseball for the Atlanta Braves and also overseas for the Korean Twins. He was also a MLB scout for the Braves, Twins, and Yankees. We are looking forward to the experience Coach Lee bring to the organization. 



Returning to the Academy will be Cam Houston and Sean Erikson who have been with the program since its inception in 2009. Also returning will be former Academy standout Ethan Elias who is currently in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. 


The Prospects would also like to give a huge thank you to Taylor Burns who will be leaving the program to finish his degree at the University of Central Missouri. Taylor has been a huge part of the program the last 5 years and will definitely be missed. We wish him the best of luck.
