LHP TARAN OULTON ACCEPTS SCHOLARSHIP AND COMMITS TO HUTCHINSON CC

06/11/2014 13:04

LHP Taran Oulton has accepted a scholarship for the 2015-16 year to play for Hutchinson CC (NJCAA) in Kansas.  The Blue Dragons compete in the Jayhawk West Conference in the NJCAA and are the defending Conference Champions, winning the title in 2014.  Hutch has appeared in the Junior College World Series twice since 2006, and finished 3rd in the nation in 2010.

Oulton will be joining former Prospect outfielder Josh Williams at Hutch.  Taran, who hails from Nanton, AB, is in his second year as a Prospect and was teammates with Williams in 2013-14.  Oulton will also be following in the footsteps of Pitching and Co-Head Coach Taylor Burns who was a member of the 2010 Championship Blue Dragon team.

Taran had an outstanding 2014 season for both the Prospects Academy and the National Championship runner-up St. Albert Midget AAA Cardinals.  He was instrumental in both teams successes compiling a total record of 15-3 for both programs over the course of the year.

Pitching Coach Taylor Burns had this to say, "Taran very well may be our most improved player over the past year and that's a testament to his tireless work ethic and dedication to his craft.  He went from being a young grade eleven kid who had to fight to just get innings last fall to arguably being our ace and one of our leaders by the spring.  Having played for Hutch, I think it's a great fit for him program-wise with the coaches that are there and I think he will have an opportunity to step in and be an impact arm for them immediately."
